Free Hosting Checker
Find out who hosts any website — the hosting provider, IP address, server location, CDN, and web server software. Handy for competitor research, migrations, and diagnosing performance.
Why hosting affects SEO & performance
Where a site is hosted directly influences speed and Core Web Vitals — and speed is a ranking factor. A server physically close to your users (or fronted by a CDN like Cloudflare or Fastly) serves pages faster. Server location can also hint at the audience a site targets.
What this checker shows
- Hosting provider & ASN — the company and network running the server.
- IP address & location — the resolved IP and its data-center country/city.
- CDN detection — Cloudflare, Fastly, CloudFront, Akamai, Vercel, and others.
- Web server — server software (nginx, Apache, etc.) and whether HSTS is enabled.
IP geolocation reflects the server / CDN edge, which may differ from the company’s physical location.
Frequently asked questions
How does this tool find out where a website is hosted?
It resolves the domain to its public IP address, then looks up the organisation, ASN, and data-center location for that IP. It also reads the response headers to identify the web server software and any CDN sitting in front of the site.
Why does the server location show a different country than I expected?
The location reflects where the IP address is physically served from, which is the data center or CDN edge rather than the company's head office. If a site uses a CDN like Cloudflare or Fastly, the IP often resolves to the nearest edge node, so the country shown may simply be the closest point of presence.
Why is the hosting provider listed as Cloudflare or another CDN instead of the real host?
When a CDN proxies a site, its IP addresses sit in front of the origin server, so the hosting provider and IP you see belong to the CDN, not the underlying host. The CDN field will flag this. The true origin host is usually hidden by design and cannot be read from the public IP alone.
Does the web server or HSTS result affect my SEO?
The specific server software (nginx, Apache, and so on) is not a ranking factor on its own, but the speed and reliability of the host influence Core Web Vitals, which do matter. HSTS being enabled signals that HTTPS is enforced, which supports the secure-connection expectations search engines and browsers have.
