Frequently asked questions

How do I get the CSV from Google Search Console?

Open Search Console → Performance → Search results. Set your date range (last 3–6 months works well), then click Export → Download CSV. Unzip the download and upload Queries.csv (for keyword opportunities) or Pages.csv (for page opportunities). You can also paste the CSV contents directly.

What are “striking distance” keywords?

These are queries where you already rank on positions 4–20 — close to page one but not quite at the top. Because Google already considers your page relevant, a small improvement (better title, more depth, internal links, a direct answer) can move them up and unlock a lot of clicks. The tool sorts them by impressions so you tackle the biggest opportunities first.

How does it find title/meta rewrite opportunities?

It builds your site’s own click-through-rate curve from your data — the average CTR you get at each ranking position — then flags queries and pages whose CTR is far below what you normally earn at that position. A low CTR despite a good ranking usually means the title or meta description isn’t compelling. The tool estimates how many clicks you’re losing so you can prioritise.

Is my Search Console data uploaded anywhere?

No. The CSV is read and analysed entirely in your browser using JavaScript — nothing is sent to our servers or stored. You can confirm this by disconnecting from the internet after the page loads; the analysis still works.
