Why typos matter on a website
Readers notice a misspelled word on a service page or a product description, and it costs trust: a page that looks careless makes the business behind it look careless too. Search engines and AI assistants also quote your text as written, so a typo in a sentence they pick up travels with it. A quick proofread before a page goes live, and now and then on the pages you already have, keeps that from happening.
Two ways to check
- Paste text to proofread a draft, an email or a product description, up to 20,000 characters at a time. Click a suggestion to put it in place, then copy the corrected text.
- Check a page to proofread the main text of a live page. Menus, footers, code samples and reader comments are left out, and names and brands aren’t flagged as typos.
Spelling mistakes are marked in red and grammar slips, such as a verb that doesn’t agree with its subject or a repeated word, in amber. Click any mark to see why it was flagged.
Limits worth knowing
The checker reads English (US and UK), German, French and Spanish, and detects which one you wrote in. It checks spelling and grammar, not style or tone. Names, brand names and specialist words it doesn’t know can show up as spelling mistakes: those need no change. Your text is checked and then discarded; we don’t store it.

Is the grammar checker free?

Which languages does it check?
English (US and UK), German, French and Spanish. Leave the language on “Detect automatically”, or pick one to check against that language’s rules, for example British spelling.
Can it check a whole web page?
Yes. Choose “Check a page” and enter the address. It reads the page’s main text and leaves out menus, footers and code.
Do you keep my text?
No. Pasted text is checked and then discarded. It isn’t saved, and it isn’t used for anything else.
Why is a correct word marked as a mistake?
Names, brands and specialist terms aren’t always in the dictionary. If the word is right, ignore it with the × next to it.
