What makes a social share image earn clicks

A share card is read at thumbnail size in a fast-scrolling feed, so the design has to work small. Use the fields in this tool deliberately rather than filling every one:

• Keep the title tight. Shorter titles render in bigger type — long ones wrap onto more lines and shrink to fit, and anything past four lines is cut with an ellipsis.
• Use the eyebrow for context. A one-word category like GUIDE or CASE STUDY frames the headline before anyone reads it.
• Pick a theme with real contrast. The Dark and Violet themes hold up better on busy feeds than a light background, where pale text can wash out at small sizes.
• Add your brand or URL in the footer. A visible domain makes the card recognisable and signals it isn’t a scraped preview.

The meta tags that make your card actually render

Downloading the PNG is step one. To make platforms use it, reference it with an absolute URL and pair og:image with the tags that describe the card:

• Declare og:image:width as 1200 and og:image:height as 630 so platforms reserve the right space instead of guessing.
• Set twitter:card to summary_large_image — without it, X falls back to a small square thumbnail.
• Fill in og:title and og:description too; the image sits above them in the card.
